VS 2010 for Web Developer Previews

KritZu: Zune playlist generator based on folder structure

 

Some time back we got Zune and uploaded our thousands of songs on to it... 

One of the things that we had earlier done was arranging all the songs based on playlists on our computer hard disk in folder structure; things like "Classic Rock", "Heavy Metal", "Jazz", "Ghazals", etc... Many a times we also had multiple level of folder hierarchy set up like My Music --> English --> Rock --> Classic Rock OR Hindi --> Ghazals --> Movie Ghazals and so on...

Anyway's we painfully learnt that Zune's software runs out of meta-data; although it allows me to sort songs based on genres, album, artist etc it does not create playlists based on the directory structure on my computer hard disk...  Well we initially started off doing this manually but soon realized that this will take days for us to complete...  So I wrote this quick utility which will create Zune playlists based on the folder structure on the hard disk...

Following are the easy steps to use it:

1. Download KritZu from https://cid-c4e57bdd18ff6eaa.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Public
2. Unzip KritZu.Exe at the location you want...
3. Launch KritZu... 

Few points to note:

• KritZu will pick up .mp3, .wma, .m4v, .mp4, .m4a, .m4b and .mov files inside the playlists...
• To find out the location where Zune playlists should be placed (i.e. second textbox on KritZu) follow below steps:
  • Open Zune software, on top right you should find settings options:
  • Go to the Zune Folder section as shown below and note the location of Zune folder
  • Notice that the Audio location in the above example is C:\Users\user\Music\Zune... In this situation the playlist location for audio will be C:\Users\user\Music\Zune\Playlists
  • If the Playlists folder does not exist then feel free to create it or else KritZu will create it for you...  Now the output of KritZu will automatically be picked up by Zune next time you connect to your machine.

PS: Do make sure that you have atleast one media file in the root folder coz KritZu is little silly, it gets confused if no media file is present in the root folder :-)

Microsoft TechNet Session @Uniba, Batam

Event Summary ini di ambil dari blog nya mas wely

Seperti yang disampaikan Pak Aprizon pada undangannya, hari Minggu kemarin, atas kerja sama antara Microsoft Indonesia, MUGI Batam, dan Universitas Batam (Universitas Batam), sukses mengadakan event TechNet. Ini merupakan event pertama yang dimotori oleh rekan2 MUGI Batam yang begitu antusiasnya. [Sepertinya gak mau kalah dengan teman2 MUGI pada kota lainnya ;)]
Bahkan demi kelancaran acara ini, rekan2 MUGI Batam dan rekan2 panitia Uniba mempersiapkan sampai jam 3 pagi .
Peserta yang hadir sekitar 160an orang dari 220an pendaftar. Sekitar 60% adalah dari mahasiswa dan pelajar, dan juga ada rekan2 dari company customer atau partner.

Acara dimulai dari Opening Speech dari Uniba.

Tentunya tidak lupa, Pak Aprizon selaku ketua MUGI Batam memberikan penjelasan singkat tentang berdirinya MUGI Batam serta aktifitas rekan2 atas terselenggarakannya acara ini.

Session pertama dimulai dari Migrasi dari Windows NT ke Windows 2003 yang dibawakan oleh Pak Rudy dan Pak Irawan.

Pada event tersebut, saya sendiri juga hadir. Tentunya teman2 tahu bahwa saya (Wely) adalah Developer Advisor, jadi tidak begitu familiar dgn mainan IT Pro. That's why pada session saya (Wely), saya bawakan Next Generation Web Application (.NET, ASP.NET 3.5, WPF, Silverlight, DeepZoom). Oleh karena audience kali ini bukanlah developer, maka kita harus "adjust" materi yang saya (Wely) bawakan sehingga dapat dimengerti.

Session ketiga kembali dibawakan oleh Pak Rudy, yang melanjutkan tahap Migrasi kedua yaitu Windows 2003 ke Windows 2008.

Session keempat dibawakan oleh Pak Atha tentang Zimbra. Pada session tersebut Pak Atha menekankan walaupun Zimbra adalah project open source, tetapi dapat berkolaborasi dengan baik dengan Active Directory di Windows. Bahkan pada session ini, peserta diundang untuk maju ke depan, untuk mencoba sendiri Zimbra.

After lunch, dimulai dari session bertema "penampakan" sesuai dgn apa yang Pak Aprizon sampaikan :). Bukan penampakan "makhluk halus", tetapi penampakan "perangkat halus / lunak masa depan", Windows 7. Ini adalah penampakan pertama kepada publik di Sumatera, dan kedua kali di Indonesia :). I am in charge dalam penampakan ini.

Session selanjutnya dibawakan oleh Pak Aprizon, yaitu Windows Vista Adoption.

Format DataGridView

DataGridView merupakan control dari .Net 2.0, ini merupakan perkembangan dari DataGrid pada .Net 1.x. Sekarang dengan artikel ini kita akan membahas bagaimana memformat datagridview kita dengan metode run time (coding). Untuk melakukan format pada Datagridview kita menggunakan DatagridviewCellStyle. Kita dapat membuat style dengan
banyak DatagridViewStyle, untuk masing-masing baris, kolom dan cells. DatagridviewCellStyle mengambil seluruh format properties pada DatagridView.
Dibawah ini merupakan beberapa properties pada DatagridviewCellStyle :
Alignment
Untuk melakukan format text didalam cell
BackColor and ForeColor
Untuk color dari pada background cell dan warna text pada cell.

Untuk format tulisan

Bagaimana melakukan format string. Contoh melakukan format numeric atau datetime menjadi string.kita dapat menggunakan standard .Net format atau custom format.

Menetapkan jika text adalah multi lines (jika tinggi row cukup untuk menampung) atau akan di potong. Sebagai default adalah wrap.

Membuat Textbox menjadi auto complete

Biasanya ketika kita mengetikkan alamat URL pada address bar, maka pada address bar akan terlihat alamat-alamat URL yang mendekati dengan apa yang kita ketik. Lalu bagaimana jika auto complete tersebut di buat pada program kita . Artikel ini menggunakan Vb 2005 express.
Textbox dan Combobox adalah control yang mensupport untuk feature ini di .Net 2.0. Untuk menggunakan AutoComplete pertama adalah dengan mensetting property AutoCompleteMode, masing-masing adalah
Append
Mode ini memasukkan text secara otomatis kedalam control sebagaimana yang kita ketik.
Suggets
Text yang mirip dengan apa yang kita ketik akan muncul di bawah control (berbentuk seperti dropdownlist), jika ada yang cocok diantara text yang tampil, you can select it (tinggal pilih aja J)
SuggestAppend
Ini merupakan kombinasi dari 2 mode diatas (Append dan Suggest). List dari text yang mirip akan tampil dibawah control, namun yang paling cocok berada dalam control.

Setelah mengganti AutoComplete Mode pada properties, selanjutnya kita akan mengubah property AutoCompleteSource. Terdapat 7 value pada properties ini.
FileSystem
Menggunakan FileSystemDirectories (Hanya menampilkan direktori path)
HistoryList
Menampilkan URL dari Internet Explore history list
RecentlyUsedList
semua file yang terakhir di gunakan yang muncul pada start menu.

Windows startup dengan Vb.Net

Ada yang tau caranya agar applikasi yang kita buat bisa masuk ke startup windows?

Emang sich sudah ada yang menjawab tapi pake bahasa inggris dan kalau ga salah C#, artikel kali ini akan membahas bagaimana membuat sintaks dengan Vb.Net untuk menjalankan program kita pada saat windows startup.

Sebelumnya pastikan kita sudah menginport win32 terlebih dahulu, seperti dibawah

Berikut adalah sintaks untuk mengaktifkan program kita pada saat start up.

Note : Sintaks diatas merupakan untuk Current User, jika untuk seluruh user tinggal ubah Registry.CurrentUser menjadi Registry.LocalMachine

Menampilkan Data Dari Table Ke Dalam Listview

Sering kali kita menggunakan listview untuk menampilkan data yang kita miliki, dan sering nya data tersebut bukan dari table, melainkan hanya inputan dari textbox atau yang lainnya. Sedangkan untuk menampilkan data kita bisa menggunakan DataGrid/DataGridView. Maka dari itu artikel ini akan menjelaskan secara singkat bagaimana menampilkan data pada listview , mengaktifkan check box pada listview sampai dengan melakukan suatu proses simpan yang mana hanya dilakukan pada baris yang di pilih.
Tambahkan 1 buah listview pada form, lalu ubah properties listview seperti :
CheckBoxes : True
FullRowSelect : True
GridLines : True
View : Details Dan pada properties coloumns klik button � disamping (Collection), lalu Add 2 kolom masing bernama Machine ID, dan Machine Name. Dan klik OK.

Tampilan ListView setelah dilakukan perubahan adalah seperti dibawah ini :

Sedangkan source code untuk menampilkan data dari table ke list view adalah seperti dibawah ini.

Installing an "Old" Printer in Vista

I have a couple of questions for you today! Have you ever tried connecting your old printer to your new Windows Vista computer? Ever had to face a "PCL6 Driver Not Compatible" error message in Vista? If so, read on, because I have some good news for you!

When installing your still functional legacy printer (like the NEC SuperScript 1450, for example) onto your new computer system with Windows Vista, immediately, you'll be struck with an incompatibility issue. An error message like this will probably pop up on your screen: �PCL6 driver was not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer.� After getting that error message, you're basically unable to use your old printer. But, like I said before, there's a quick relief. Here's what you can do:

The error message clearly says there's a problem with the policy. Hence, when the same policy is changed, you'll be able to get your printer up and running. All you have to do is this:

1. Go to Start.
2. Type in �gpedit.msc� (without the quotes) and then hit Enter. That will launch the Group Policy Object Editor.
3. Under the Computer Configuration section, double click on Administrative Templates and then select Printers.
   
4. In the right pane, find the policy named "Disallow Installation of Printers Using Kernel-mode Drivers" and double click on it.
   
5. Set its status to Disabled.

By disabling the disallow policy, you enable the use of kernel-mode drivers, which is what you need to be able to use your old printer. When you're finished, click OK to close the Group Policy Editor. You'll then need to reboot your computer for everything to take effect. That's all you have to do. Now, you can enjoy your favorite printer with your new Windows Vista computer. Yes!

Penginputan data dari DatagridView kedalam SQL Server 2000

Kojirosan: Mas, d vb.net kalo mao simpan hasil olahan datagridview ke database SQL2000 gimana ya? kalo utk textbox saya sudah bisa

Setelah ada pertanyaan seperti diatas, maka saya kepikiran untuk membuat simple artikel sehingga saya tidak perlu menjawab pertanyaan yang berulang-ulang.
Dari pertanyaan diatas, kita asumsikan bahwa si penanya sudah bisa menampilkan data pada DataGridView, yang menjadi pertanyaannya adalah bagaimana memasukkan data pada grid kedalam table. (Bener gitu kan Mas???).
Jika seperti itu hal yang harus kita pikirkan adalah mengambil data pada grid view untuk dijadikan value pada proses penginputan. Silahkan liat sintaks dibawah untuk memasukkan data pada grid kedalam textbox.

Jika hal seperti ini sudah bisa kita lakukan maka sangat mudah sekali untuk melakukan penginputan kedalam table pada SQL server.
Setelah kita membuat Class (.vb) untuk melakukan proses penginputan (liat Step 13), maka jendela user interface hal yang perlu dilakukan adalah seperti berikut.

Cara baik dalam melakukan penginputan data pada vb.net dengan Access sebagai DB

Jika para pembaca jeli dan teliti pada setiap artikel saya terlebih pada Step 1 yang melakukan pengolahan data dengan Access sebagai Database nya, pasti akan timbul pertanyaan pada saya atau mungkin diri sendiri, kenapa penulis artikel ini menggunakan fungsi Replace terlebih dahulu sebelum melakukan proses Insert dan Update seperti dibawah ini

Fungsi Replace tersebut untuk mengantisipasi, jika user melakukan penginputan dengan memasukkan karakter � � � (tanda petik), jika tidak ada fungsi Replace maka akan muncul error message seperti dibawah.

Kenapa bisa muncul error seperti ini, kalau di ingat lagi pada Class AccessUsaha.vb, kita menggunakan Sintaks seperti dibawah ini.

Dan jika masukkan data dengan menggunakan (�), lalu kita trace maka sintaks SQL nya akan seperti ini

tanda petik tersebut telah membuat sintaks SQL menjadi tidak sempurna dan menimbulkan error.
Oleh karena itu penulis melakukan pengubahan data sebelum program melakukan proses simpan. Tapi apakah setelah dengan melakukan Replace dari satu tanda petik (�) ke dua tanda petik (�) masalah sudah selesai, penulis rasa tidak. Karena data yang di inputkan user secara otomatis telah di ubah oleh program (berarti data tersebut sudah tidak valid lagi). Dan menurut penulis sintaks diatas tidak layak dipakai lagi dan sintaks yang benar adalah seperti dibawah ini :

Yesterday someone in my office called on my local extension number and said he need more permission on his extension number so he can make STD and ISD calls also and I said �ok give me 5 minute I will do it� this time was more than enough for me to complete this task because I have done it many times before but one new thing came in scene. I have never done it after upgrading to vista.

My EPBX system needs a connection with computer using com port. There was no issue with hardware but what about software. I use to connect it with hyperteminal in windows xp but in windows Vista there is no hyper terminal kind of thing there. Ok my next step was Google and I came to know that I can use windows XP hyper terminal in windows vista also. I extracted the hypertm.dll and hyperterm.exe files of the hyperterminal from my XP CD and I uploaded them on internet

You can download it from link bellow and you can simply run the hyperterm.exe to use HyperTerminal in vista or in windows 7.

In your first run it will ask for your country and area code etc so please give that and then you will get your familiar hyper terminal option. For second time you need not to do that.

Add �Hide File Names� Option in �View� Menu in Windows Vista

Names Option in View Menu in your Windows Vista ...... this trick works only with Windows Vista.

1. Open a folder, in which you want to add this option. If you want to add this option in all folders, then open the parent folder. e.g. if you want to add the option in every folder of E: drive, then open E: drive.

2. Right-click on a blank area in the folder and select �Customize This Folder". You can also get this option from �View -> Customize This Folder.

3. It�ll open �Customize� tab. Now select �Pictures and Videos� option from �Template� drop-down box.
NOTE: If you want to add the option �Hide File Names� to a particular folder then make sure to un-check the option �Also apply this template to all subfolders�, otherwise enable this option.

4. Now Apply it and see the magic.
Now you�ll get an extra option �Hide File Names� in �View�. Which can hide file/folder names in that particular folder.Actually in Windows XP we can hide file/folder names by pressing key and selecting �View -> Thumbnails�. Since they hv removed �Thumbnails� option from �View� menu, I think thats why this option was added to folders having their templates as �Pictures and Videos�.

Clean Your RAM and Get Some Speed

Here's an old trick that may help some of you who do not have that much RAM. You may have noticed that your PC gets slower and slower when you do a lot of things with it like playing games, then using different applications.

The reason for the slowdown is that your RAM is full of remaining progress pieces you do not need any more. You need to free it to gain some speed. Here's a simple trick to do it : open Notepad and type FreeMem=Space(128000000).

Save it as RAMcleaner.vbs then run it. It could could free up some RAM. You can edit the code to have a better cleaning power. You can type FreeMem=Space(256000000) and see the result.

Today someone in my office came to me and said that she is getting an error that port restricted for security reason in her Firefox browser for some local host server. She said she already tried everything in its solution but I knew she didn�t.

I went to about:config or Firefox and tried to search something related to this but got nothing then I opened Google and first 2-3 result my problem got resolved. Here is complete solution for this problem in steps.

1) Open your Firefox browser, in url box type about:config and press enter.
2) In next screen you will get a warning message click on �I will be careful, I promise!� button.
3) In next screen search for �network.security.ports.banned.override�.
4) If this string is not there write click anywhere in the firefox text window and click on new and then select string.
4) You will get a box says � Enter the preference name� in its text box give the name �network.security.ports.banned.override� and press ok.
5) In next screen you have to give the string value. This string value is port number of your port.
6) If you want to allow all port then please give 0-65535. It will allow all the port. If you want to give some specific port then you can give those specific port using comma separated value example 101, 102, 103 etc.
7) Once it�s done you are ready to visit your url and this time you will be able to access the url without any problem.

How to remove IE 7 from windows XP SP3

How to remove IE 7 from windows XP SP3

Few days back someone in my officie said to me that they need the IE 6 back in there computer so I should install the IE 6 in their XP computer. I said to them just uninstall IE 7 from your computer and IE 6 will come automatically in windows XP machine. The other person said to me he already tried that but there is no remove button in IE7 in add remove windows program.

It was a new thing for me as I have not seen this issue earlier, so I went to his seat and saw the computer but found nothing unusual in computer. After few second I realized that all the uninstall of IE 7 that I did was before XP SP3 so I checked if SP 3 was installed on the computer and yes XP SP3 was installed.

Ok so now I just removed the XP SP3 and then I restarted the machine than removed IE 7 and this time I was able to remove it.

For removing XP SP3 you just need to go to your add remove program and remove the XP SP3.

Keep remember this will take hell lot of time to remove XP SP3 from computer so I would recommend you to do it in night and leave your computer on so it would not affect your working hour.

One more thing I must recommend to you that do a backup of the entire important file and do create a system restore point before uninstalling SP3. Backup and system restore point creation is not necessary but a good practice to do before any risky task.

Reminder Program dengan Vb.Net

�Lupa� adalah kata yang sering di dengar dan di ucapkan oleh kita, apakah itu lupa karena sengaja atau tidak. Yang menjadi permasalahan �sifat� itu sering terjadi pada kita yang waktu nya selalu di habiskan di depan PC.
Oleh karena itu banyak sekali program-program yang di jual pada saat ini untuk mengatasi penyakit lupa atau lebih di kenal dengan nama Reminder program. Program yang mengingatkan kita akan janji, ulang tahun maupun event-event lain yang kita miliki. Tapi banyak program itu tidak gratis alias bayar, dan mungkin banyak juga yang versi crack nya. Tapi apakah kita sebagai pemula dan ingin belajar tidak pengen mengetahu cara membuat program itu, di mulai dari versi yang sederhana dulu sampai pada versi-versi yang lebih baik.
Tulisan ini mengajak pada kita semua para pemula programmer yang ingin belajar untuk bisa memulai membuat program untuk diri kita sendiri, berkreasi dari hal-hal yang kecil terlebih dahulu.
Program Reminder ini dibuat dengan menggunakan Vb.Net 2003, jadi bagi yang ingin menginstall nya sebelumnya harus terlebih dahulu menginstal .net framework 1.1 minimum, bagi yang tidak memilikinya bisa di download di sini. Dan bagi yang ingin tau design program di mulai dari source code sampai dengan database diagram bisa melihat di file help (user manual). Dari situ saya mengajak pada teman-teman untuk mencoba membuat program ini, jika menemui kendala dengan program ini bisa memasukkan komentar nya ke sini.

Explorer has stopped working getting this message again and again in vista

Yesterday my one friend gave me her laptop to repair it. By mistake on her laptop something went wrong and she was not able to use her laptop because she was getting the error explorer has stopped working and its restarting. I checked the issue over Google and found Microsoft says you installed LAME codec but it didn�t have any solution. I tried to find the solution over internet but no useful answer so I decided to use my Ram ban technique and that worked.

To get reed of this problem I just did a system restore of the system prior to the date when it was working fine and it did work after that restore. For doing this restore you need to reboot your computer and need to login in safe mode. It will not work in genral mode. Here is the procedure for doing a system restore.

1) First restart your computer while its rebooting continuously keep pressing F7.
2) After few seconds you will get a black screen in which you will see different option. Choose the safe mode by your arrow key and press enter.
3) It will boot your computer in safe mode, in safe mode also you may have the problem of the explorer has stopped working but you can simply use your computer.
4) Now go to start->all program->accessories->system tools->system restore and click on system restore.
5) It will give you a screen as bellow.

6) Click on next and you will get screen as bellow. If there is not multiple date please select show the restore point older than 5 days and you will get all the restore point.

7) Select the date when your system was working fine and click on next it will start the restoration process of your computer and after few minute it will restart.
8) Once it�s restarted it should work fine.
