Bekerja Jarak Jauh Dengan Remote Desktop Windows XP

Seringkali kita masih direpotkan dengan membawa flashdisk untuk presentasi atau untuk mengajar di ruang kelas. Bahkan kadang ada file atau data yang lupa tidak terbawa, maka kita harus kembali lagi untuk meng-copy-nya.

Kadang kita juga harus menginstall suatu aplikasi pada komputer di ruang presentasi atau komputer di ruang kelas terlebih dulu sebelum menggunakannya. Repotnya lagi kalau aplikasi yang mau kita install sifatnya lisensi hanya untuk satu user atau hanya untuk instruktur, sehingga tidak memungkinkan kalau kita harus menginstallnya di banyak komputer.


Bagaimana mengatasi permasalahan tersebut? Permasalahan tersebut dapat diatasi dengan memanfaatkan fasilitas jaringan yang sudah kita miliki. Windows XP profesional sudah menyediakan sebuah layanan dengan memanfaatkan koneksi jaringan, yaitu dengan menggunakan layanan Remote Desktop Connection.

Tidaklah sulit untuk menggunakan layanan ini, sangat mudah, bagi orang awam sekalipun, apalagi bagi orang yang sudah terbiasa dengan Windows. Dalam tulisan ini akan dijelaskan bagaimana mengaktifkan layanan Remote Desktop Connection dan bagaimana memanfaatkannya untuk meningkatkan efisiensi kerja kita.

Apa yang dimaksud dengan Remote Dekstop (RD)?

RD digunakan untuk mengendalikan sebuah komputer beserta aplikasi desktop dan resource-nya dengan menggunakan komputer lain yang terhubung melalui jaringan. Dengan menggunakan RD, Anda dapat mengakses komputer kerja Anda menggunakan perangkat komputer yang lain.

RD memberikan kepada Anda kontrol penuh terhadap komputer kerja, seperti Anda melihat langsung di depan monitor Anda. Pada saat Anda menggunakan layanan RD dari komputer lain, komputer kerja Anda akan secara otomatis mengunci dirinya sehingga orang lain tidak dapat masuk �mengakses komputer Anda selagi Anda gunakan. Untuk mengembalikan ke status semula, anda bisa melakukan �disconect�.



Beberapa hal yang bisa kita lakukan dengan memanfaatkan layanan RD antara lain:

� Anda dapat membiarkan komputer Anda tetap bekerja ketika Anda meninggalkan ruang kerja, dan Anda tetap dapat melihat kerja komputer Anda dengan menggunakan komputer yang lain.

� Efisiensi dalam presentasi. Anda dapat mengakses komputer kerja Anda yang ada di ruang kerja Anda ketika Anda harus presentasi di ruang rapat dengan menggunakan komputer lain. Dalam hal ini, Anda dapat mengakses semua aplikasi yang Anda punya, semua file dan semua sumber yang terhubung dengan komputer Anda. Seperti Anda bekerja langsung dengan komputer kerja Anda. Jadi pada waktu presentasi, Anda tidak perlu kuatir kekurangan data atau harus repot-repot membawa flashdisk Anda.

� Mengajar di ruang kelas tanpa membawa flashdisk. Jika ruang kelas Anda sudah terhubung dengan jaringan yang terhubung dengan ruang kerja Anda, dan sudah diroutingkan (berharap dari pengelola jaringan lokal untuk meroutingkan ruang kelas dengan ruang kerja dosen-guru), maka Anda dapat langsung mengakses bahan-bahan ajar Anda yang ada di komputer kerja Anda dari ruang kelas. Tidak hanya file power point, file video, file dokumen saja tapi juga bisa aplikasi-aplikasi tertentu yang diperlukan.

� Memonitoring penelitian Anda di Laboratorium. Bila anda mengerjakan suatu aktifitas dengan menggunakan komputer di Lab, Anda masih bisa memonitor dan melanjutkan apa yang Anda kerjakan di komputer Lab dari komputer di ruang kerja Anda. Tentunya dalam hal ini Laboratorium terhubung dengan ruang kerja Anda dan diroutingkan oleh pengelola jaringan lokal.

� Meningkatkan kerja sama dengan rekan kerja kita. Misalnya, bersama-sama memperbaikii bahan ajar, bahan presentasi, analisis hasil penelitian dan lain-lain. Karena kita seperti membawa komputer kita untuk berdiskusi dengan rekan kerja kita di ruang kantornya.

Tentunya masih banyak lagi efisiensi yang bisa kita lakukan dengan memanfaatkan fasilitas RD ini.

Cara Mengaktifkan Layanan RD

Sebelum menjalankan layanan RD, terlebih dahulu pastikan bahwa komputer Anda sudah terinstall MS Windows XP Profesional. Komputer Anda juga harus terhubung dengan jaringan yang sudah diroutingkan dengan komputer yang akan Anda gunakan untuk me-remote.

Jangan lupa mencatat IP address dari komputer Anda, atau mengenali nama komputer Anda dengan melihat pada system properties dengan meng-click Start � Control Panel � (Performance and Maintenance-optional) � System � Computer Name � Full computer name:nama komputer.

Catat nama komputer. Sedangkan Komputer yang digunakan untuk me-remote harus menggunakan Windows 95 atau sesudahnya, dan juga mempunyai layanan RD Connection yang sudah terinstall. Setelah semua dipenuhi, Anda dapat mengikuti langkah-langkah berikut:

1. Di komputer yang akan di-remote, Anda harus masuk sebagai administrator dengan password yang aman. Untuk lebih memastikan keamanan, Anda juga dapat memperkuatnya dengan mengatur tambahan keamanan di firewall windows dengan meng-click Start � Control Panel � (Security Center-optional) � Windows Firewall � kemudian pastikan untuk tidak memilih check box �Don�t allow exception�.

2. Lanjutkan dengan memilih tab Exceptions dan pastikan memilih check box �Remote Desktop�

3. Lanjutkan dengan Masuk ke System Properties dengan meng-click Start � Control Panel � (Performance and Maintenance-optional) � System � Remote, kemudian pilih check box �Allow users to connect remotely to this computer�. Jangan lupa setelah Anda selesai meremote, kembalikan check box �Allow users to connect remotely to this computer� menjadi tidak terpilih lagi. Penting banget lho ini, demi keamanan.

4. Setelah komputer yang akan Anda remote selesai Anda atur, maka Anda bisa me-remote dari komputer lain. Pada komputer yang akan Anda gunakan untuk me-remote, click Start � All Programs � Accessories � Communications � Remote Desktop Connection. Kemudian masukkan alamat IP atau nama komputer yang akan di-remote.

5. Setelah ini Anda tinggal login pada menu Log On to Windows dengan memasukkan user name dan password. Selamat mencoba. Untuk mengakhiri layanan RD, Anda tinggal Log-off atau Disconnect.

Now, many will start asking questions about how many years of experience does one need to have, how much salary will be given, how proficient should one be with Visual Studio and .NET, Is knowing ASP.NET or ASP.NET MVC important; well lot of that will depend upon the person and I do not have finite answers to any of these� !!

But,  at this point I just want to ask simple but important questions to the potential candidate�

• Are you passionate about web development and have a vision of how it can be made much easier, faster and fun�?
• Have you developed real world web sites which are up and running on the internet/intranet�?

Yesterday one of my team members who work in Mac asked me my hard drive to copy some data from his Mac Machine to windows machine. I gave him my portable hard drive and just after few minute of that he came back to me complaining that something is wrong in drive it�s not allowing me to copy any data from Mac Machine.

At that time I remembered Mac do not allow to write in NTFS partition without any third party tool. Because I have done it earlier also so it was not impossible for me to install ntfs driver but I did that long back that too using some command tool

I searched again Google in hope I find something good and in fact I found something good for this.

I found NTFS-3G tool. Its double click installation tool and it work great for writing NTFS files in Mac. You can get this tool from here.

install Windows 7 without formating Windows XP

How to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 without clean installation

In my office I offered team members for installing Windows 7 on their XP computer and they were more than happy to get it done but only thing they were worried about data and settings. I said no issue we will get it done using file transfer wizard then they said not only settings they need to have lot of software as well and they need to install it again.

As per Microsoft if you have windows XP installed on your computer and if you want to install Windows 7 on your computer you need to make a clean install of Windows 7. I was not happy with this as I do have windows vista and it�s very easy to upgrade from XP to windows vista. Once Windows Vista is installed you do not need to make a clean install for installing Windows 7.

Here is process for same in short.
1) Take your backup of all the settings and data using easy migration just for backup purpose
2) You can see here how we can do that.
3) Now install Windows Vista. I had it so I didn�t bothered for that, if you have a genuine copy of window 7 you can download a 30 day trial version of windows vista from here
4) After installing windows vista install windows vista sp1 without that it won�t allow you to install windows 7.
5) Once Windows vista sp1 is installed you can go ahead and install windows 7 on this computer.

Things to remember

1) At the time of installation of vista it can give you some message like few of the programs are not supported but it will not affect your installation, do not worry with them you just keep continue, after installing service pack and update of those software that would work fine with windows 7 as well.
2) You should have all the required space in your booting drive while installing windows vista and windows 7 at least 16 GB otherwise it would not install.
3) Make sure you have backup of everything important from your XP machine. It worked great for me but if you feel any problem I would not be responsible for that.

Biggest Drawback of this process is that it takes hell lot of time for both up gradation at least 4 time of normal installation each. Good thing is that it saves all program and setting untouched including your installed program.

McAfee Agent Deployment problem in Windows XP using EPO

McAfee Agent Deployment problem in Windows XP

Before few days I was working for configuration and deployment of McAfee antivirus using EPO. It worked fine in few of XP Machine, Worked great for Windows Vista and Windows 7 but in few windows XP machine it created problem. Everything was fine but EPO was not able to deploy agent in few computers. It gave me error of authentication problem. One thing that I noticed was I was getting this issue in only those computers that were not in domain but were member of workgroup.

I did Google but found no proper solution for this. I tested all those XP machine where it worked and after a long and hectic comparison I found that windows guest user authentication is on, on all those computer where it was not installing at the same time where it worked like charm I found classic user authentication was there.

For deploying McAfee Agent in Windows XP you must need to do following thing.
1) Disable firewall of client computer.
2) Remove any antivirus if it�s previously installed, even if you have McAfee remove it and restart your computer.
3) After restart please go to control panel �administrative tool�local security policy�security settings�local policy�security option.
4) In Security option please find �Network access: Sharing and security model for local accounts� policy.
5) By Default this policy remain �Guest only: on stand-alone computers� so we need to change this policy as �Classic: local users authenticate themselves�.

Now please try to install/deploy McAfee agent and I hope it will work with no issue.

Not able to send email using webserver under SMTP protocol after installing McAfee Virus scan

How to allow email from website using SMTP protocol in McAfee

One of my team member complained to me that they are not able to receive email from there website, this website is issue manager that send automatic email using SMTP protocol if there is any issue booked in this website. After getting idea since when they are facing this issue I found only one chance during this time. It was McAfee installation. After few searching I found every automatic mail that gets generated from website work under similar protocol and McAfee treat it as Mass mailing worm.

To solve this issue here is simplest process, you need to disable mass mailing worm prevention from access protection properties.

Please follow step by step process for this.
1) Please go to virus scan console of McAfee Virus scan.
2) You will find a screen something like this.

3) Double click on access protection and it will open a window as bellow.
4) In access protection Rules please select Antivirus standard protection and in another side please remove check marks from row of �Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail�.
5) Click on Apply and click on OK.

As this rule is only for outgoing mails so you won�t have any issue in your computer security setting and this change we need to for server not on client machine.

If you think this is a bad idea to disable complete prevention for mass mailing worm then you can go ahead add process in prevent mass mailing worms block.

Click on edit and add the name of process that is getting blocked by McAfee. It will allow only that particular process to send email not any other process.

Set Location atasi Runtime-error '20533' Pada Crystal Report

Betapa terkejutnya seorang mahasiswa ketika presentasi program dihadapan dosennya, setelah semalaman berjuang design, coding dan buat report tak lupa berulang-ulang dicoba dan lancar-lancar saja. Setelah di pindah ke komputer lain (-kebetulan di path yang berbeda-) saat ingin menampilkan report (dengan crystal report) tiba-tiba ada pesan aneh di programnya. Duonkkkk! debug dech he3 ...

Ada apa gerangan ??

Coba dech kubantu masalahnya, setelah ku coba artikan via Google Translate , maklum english-ku very poor ^_^. Artinya adalah "tidak dapat membuka database", 

"Sudah kubolak-balik mas codenya tetep aja nggak bisa," pembelaan mereka, 

"Setiap Penyakit ada obatnya, bila obat tepat mengenai suatu penyakit, maka hilanglah ia..." betul? "betul-betul-betul"

"Kalau sudah dibolak-balik tetep nggak bisa, berarti bukan codenya yang salah, ayo balikin lagi!!!"

Lalu apa?, Yang pasti masalah terjadi di file reportnya. Saat dibuat(design), Report merecord path database (-misalnya di c:\db1.mdb-) ketika project VB beserta isinya di pindah ke path lain (-misalnya di d:\db1.mdb-) Report tidak akan secara otomatis mengenali database karena yang ada dalam catatan/ingatan reportnya, pathnya adalah di c:\db1.mdb.  Intinya  report  gagal membuka database karena memang  tidak ada dalam path dimaksud.

Solusinya ?

Pertama buka report yang bermasalah, memang tidak ada masalah apa-apa saat report di buka, untuk mengetahui masalah apa yang terjadi sebenarnya, coba tekan F5 atau tanda petir ()pada toolbar, bila ada konfirmasi "Refresh report data?" tekan OK, nah ketahuan lo..., akan muncul message box sambil berbunyi 'thuling ...' "Error Opening File. File could not be Found, dst ..." Kemudian di preview report tidak akan tampil apa-apa.

Penting !!! Apabila Anda tidak yakin dengan yang Anda lakukan sebaiknya Save As Report yang sedang di obok-obok dengan nama lain.

Kita Lanjutkan ya! untuk menyelesaikan masalah ini, lakukan langkah-langkah di bawah ini dengan seksama.

Pilih Menu>> Database>Set Location ... kemudian akan muncul jendela seperti dibawah ini

Ganti saja pada kotak yang ditandai dengan path yang baru (-misalnya :t_penjualan!D:/db1.mdb-), kemudian tekan Done. tekan F5 atau tanda petir ()pada toolbar. Muncul dech reportnya. Nah tapi kalau dipindah lagi ke path yang lain ngubah lagi dunk ??? Betul.

Anda dapat menggunakan tombol 'Same As report' pada jendela Set Location, kemudian tekan 'Done', dengan begitu tidak usah repot-repot lagi set location ketika file dipindah ke lain path. Tetapi cara ini ada syaratnya, yaitu lokasi database (-misal : db.mdb-) dan file report (-misal : report1.rpt-) harus berada di path yang sama seperti gambar dibawah ini.

Motherboard (mainboard) atau kadang disingkat MoBo, merupakan komponen induk dalam sebuah PC (karena disanalah dipasang CPU, RAM, hardisk, CD/DVD ROM dan sebagainya). Setelah menginstall Sistem Operasi (seperti Windows), yang pertama di install biasanya berbagai Driver motherboard-nya.
Tanpa driver motherboard, berbagai fitur/komponen yang ada tidak akan berfungsi dengan baik, bahkan mungkin tidak akan berjalan.


Definisi Singkat Driver
Secara sederhana, driver (device driver) merupakan program/software yang diperlukan agar hardware atau perangkat keras seperti : CPU, VGA, LAN, Sound card dan lainnya dapat berjalan (berinteraksi) dan berfungsi dengan baik dengan sistem operasi yang digunakan. Sehingga selanjutnya aplikasi lainnya juga dapat memanfaatkan fitur dalam perangkat /hardware tersebut.

Ketika membeli sebuah PC / komputer baru, didalam box/kotak Motherboard biasanya disertakan CD/DVD yang berisi driver motherboard tersebut, seperti driver Chipset, Sound Card, Kartu Jaringan (LAN) dan VGA ( IGP = Integrated Graphics Processor) dan lainnya.

Terkadang menjadi permasalahan ketika kita menginstall ulang sistem operasi tetapi kita tidak mempunyai CD driver atau CD-nya hilang. Selain itu, ketika driver sudah lama, maka kita kadang perlu mengupdate dengan driver terbaru.

Mencari Driver di Internet

Untuk mencari driver di Internet, kadang bisa membuat pusing. Karena tidak sedikit link yang kelihatannya menyediakan download driver, ternyata harus menjadi member, membayar, atau bahkan kita diminta menginstall program tertentu, yang kita tidak tahu mungkin merupakan program yang berbahaya.

Sebagian besar link diatas akan langsung masuk ke halaman pemilihan hardware yang dimiliki masing-masing vendor, seperti : Motherboard, VGA / Graphics card, Server/ workstation board dan lainnya. Jadi sebelum download, langkah lain yang juga penting adalah mengetahui tipe Motherboard yang digunakan.

Cara mengetahui tipe Motherboard yang terbaik adalah dengan membuka chasing komputer dan dilihat keterangannya di motherboardnya. Sebagian besar vendor akan menuliskan tipe-nya disana, baik dengan sticker atau langsung menuliskan di papan mainboardnya dengan tulisan yang cukup besar dan cukup mencolok. Berikut contohnya :

Not able to Access network computer in windows 7

Yesterday one of my colleagues complaint me that he is not able to access data on shared computer. He is not able to connect to server even if he gave correct permission. He checked firewall, he checked antivirus and everything that he could have do.

Biggest issue was this that he was able to connect with few of the computer but on few computers it was not accepting password

After that it was a big issue for me as well because I believe on his technical skills and I thought process. I looked at his computer and after a short discovery we found reason of the problem. We found his windows 7 clock was not on time. It was 5 days back then present date.

We resettled time as present date and time, and then we checked it and it work like charm.

For solving this issue just change the time as present date and time.

Membuat Akses Internet Murah dengan RT/RW Net

Konsep RT/RW net ini diperkenalkan oleh pakar internet Indonesia yg cukup diakui kiprahnya di dunia internasional, yaitu DR. Onno W Purbo yang biasa disebut Kang Onno.
