Windows 8 compatibility with Intel Pentium 4
How could you know if you Windows 8 is compatible with your PC or your old PC? Do I have enough RAM to run Windows 8? Could I install Windows 8 from Windows XP? Could I install Windows 8 from Windows Vista? Could I install Windows 8 from Windows 7? All those questions are subject to a lot of research and development. I previously installed Windows 8 Professional on my AMD 64 3800+ 2.4GHZ and it works perfectly. Thank you AMD for making good products. Unfortunately, I got a error message when I try to install the same Windows 8 version on my old Pentium 4 (inside) and I got this error message after the computer rebooted:Windows 8 error message:

First of all, many like you, including me decided to reboot the computer. No big deal and you still have the same error message. I bet you don�t understand why. I made some research over the internet and I finally discover that I might not be able to find a good solution to my problem. When the PC is too old, some stuff in your PC might no be compatible or ready to run Windows 8.
I�ll give the credit to those who wrote something about it. Check the reference at the end of this article.
Then a little frustration came in. I�ll explain why. Imagine you bought Windows 8 ( or download the trial version, release candidate�) and you place the DVD install in your DVD-ROM, start the setup and you encounter no major problem. Never the setup warns you that Windows 8 isn�t compatible with your computer. Of course, you might have checked if you have the minimum requirement:
Windows 8 minimum requirement
Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2
RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver
But the heck is PAE, NX or SSE2? Who cares?
So I proceeded with the installation. When I got the error message, I thought the installation simply failed. So I decided to do a wipe out mu computer for a clean Windows 8 installation. That was the biggest mistake I made that day. I am the only one to blame.
The worst is that Windows XP was installed on that computer ant that Windows is starting to give trouble to my PC. Because Microsoft has extended XP's life artificially, I said; why not install Windows 8 on my old Pentium 4? My old computer is starting to die.
Now guest what, I can�t put Windows XP back on my Pentium 4 anymore. I don�t have the serial number. Event if I do, I don�t see the point after all that waste of time. I can�t blame Microsoft. I was the one who haven�t read the requirement.
I just said to myself. Yea!, I have a processor over 1GHz, cool, let�s do it. (Homer Simpson would say: D�oh!)
